French prestige skin care, fragrance and beauty brand L’Occitane has opened a new flagship in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. What sets this one apart from L’Occitane’s other international flagships, is its brand new retail model designed for the modern consumer’s varying needs, focusing on information and immediacy.
In L’Occitane’s announcement press release, Paul Blackburn, associate vice president of design and construction, L’Occitane North America, said: “From entry to exit, the multisensory boutique works collectively to create both an immersive and individualized shopping experience, offering clients an unparalleled assortment of product and service.”
According to the release, the new L’Occitane Flatiron reinvents the traditional brick and mortar retail and elevates Provence from a location to an experience. L’Occitane Flatiron is inspired by the Provençal culture and a tailored shopping experience featuring digital, cultural, and environmental innovations. Upon entering, each guest walks into a modern day Provençal open air market with a community board sharings the boutique’s instore services, and a selection of bestselling brands and top-trending products. All experiences take place under a 400-square-foot trellis running down the middle of the ceiling, with seasonal changes to feature new ingredient stories.
With today’s shift in ultra-beauty customization in mind, the store features the first L’Occitane Smart Beauty Fitting Room, where clients can explore, discover, and personalize their shopping experience on a digital platform. This allows the customer to browse products in a private, digital format that offers comfort while complementing its physical, sensorial product sampling experience.
According to the release, “L’Occitane Flatiron will also feature person-to-person concierge offering amenities and services from sparkling water to fragrance engraving and custom gift creation.”
